Drone 3D scanning: capture the building and its surroundings from the air.

With our own drones we carry out professional aerial photography, video filming and spatial capture to produce 3D models and visual presentations of buildings, land and their surroundings.

In short

Drone 3D scanning is the capture of overlapping aerial photographs of a building and its surroundings, which we convert into a spatial 3D model through photogrammetric processing. We also prepare aerial photographs, promotional videos and visualisations, using our own drones and our own processing.

  3. 03

    3D model of the surroundings

Photogrammetric reconstruction of the building, land and surroundings.

  4. 04

    Final presentation

Edited footage, video and model, ready for the web, sales and documentation.

01

A property is more than just a building. Its surroundings matter too.

Location, access routes, the surrounding land and how the building sits in its setting are important factors in presenting a property. Aerial capture gives a view of the whole that is often hard to convey effectively from the ground.

Using advanced photo-processing methods, we can turn the captured data into spatial 3D models and a range of visual presentations, from a single building to a plot of land and the wider surroundings.

03

What does the client receive?

Depending on the purpose of the capture, we prepare one or more of the following deliverables.

  1. 01

    Edited aerial photographs

Selected and processed shots of the building, land and surroundings.

  2. 02

    Promotional video

A short clip for your website, listings and presentations.

  3. 03

    3D model of the building

A photogrammetric model of the building exterior for presentation and visualisation.

  4. 04

3D model of the land and surroundings

A spatial representation of the plot, its terrain and the position of the building.

  5. 05

    Aerial visualisations

Images and views for sales, planning and project communication.

  6. 06

    Materials for further use

Data and models for web projects, presentations or interactive solutions.

The level of detail, formats and possible uses depend on the capture conditions, the extent of the area and the agreed scope of work. The models are intended for presentation and documentation, not for official land surveying.

04

Capture. Processing. Digital model.

  1. 01

    Site review and capture plan

We define the goal (photographs, video or a 3D model), the extent of the area and the most suitable time for the capture.

  2. 02

    Checking flight conditions

We check the airspace, restrictions, weather conditions and privacy requirements, and arrange any permits that are needed.

  3. 03

    Drone photography or filming

For promotional footage we plan the shots; for spatial capture we fly systematic paths with overlapping photographs.

  4. 04

    Processing the captured data

We edit and process the photographs; for a 3D model we align them photogrammetrically and reconstruct them into a spatial model.

  5. 05

Production of the model or visualisation

We prepare the agreed deliverable: edited photographs, video, a 3D model of the building or surroundings, or visualisations.

  6. 06

    Handover and further use

We hand over the materials in the agreed formats; they can be used in an online presentation, documentation or further digital solutions.

Video filming or spatial capture?

Aerial photography and video

Planned shots and camera moves for an attractive, clear view of the building and its surroundings. The result is edited photographs and video.

Photogrammetric 3D capture

A systematic flight with overlapping photographs, from which software reconstructs a spatial model. The result is a 3D model of the building and its surroundings.

05

Technology for property, construction and spatial presentation.

Houses

The house with its garden, access and surroundings in a single view, for a sales listing that shows more than ground-level photographs.

Apartment buildings

A view of the whole building, parking, green areas and the orientation of the apartments relative to the compass.

New developments

Aerial footage of the site and construction progress to present the project to buyers as early as the off-plan stage.

Commercial buildings

Setting, access, parking areas and proximity to transport links for tenants and investors.

Industrial buildings

An overview of larger complexes, roof areas and logistics routes where a ground-level view is not enough.

Land

The extent, shape, terrain and surroundings of a plot for sale, planning or presentation to investors.

Construction sites

Periodic aerial footage of progress on site for documentation, coordination and communication with the client.

Larger property complexes

Neighbourhoods, business parks and tourism complexes as a whole, with proportions that cannot be shown any other way.

06

We connect the exterior of the building with the digital presentation of the property.

Aerial spatial capture can be an important part of a wider digital project. Depending on the client’s goals, the data about the building and its surroundings can be used in architectural presentations, web projects, spatial visualisations and bespoke interactive solutions.

Combined with 3D scanning of the interior, we can prepare a more complete digital presentation of the property: exterior, surroundings and interior from the same source.

From aerial capture to the final presentation. All in one place.

At Arhix we combine our own drone filming, digital processing of the footage, 3D technology and the development of presentation solutions.

This gives clients a more coherent delivery process and the option of further upgrades, from individual photographs and videos to more demanding digital models.

Delivery depends on the airspace, weather conditions, flight rules, privacy and other circumstances at the location. Photogrammetric models are intended for presentation, visualisation and documentation; they do not replace official land surveys or certified survey reports.

Frequently asked questions

What does drone 3D scanning mean?

The systematic capture of overlapping aerial photographs of a building or area and their photogrammetric processing into a spatial 3D model. The result is a digital representation of the exterior of the building and its surroundings, suitable for presentations and visualisations.

What is the difference between photography and 3D capture?

Photography and video filming produce edited footage of selected shots. For 3D capture, the drone flies planned paths and captures hundreds of overlapping photographs, from which software reconstructs a spatial model. These are two different processes with different durations and results.

Can you produce a 3D model of a building?

Yes, of the exterior of the building and its surroundings, provided the building is sufficiently accessible from the air and conditions allow a systematic capture. The level of detail depends on the capture conditions and the agreed scope.

Can you capture land as well?

Yes. We present plots, their terrain and surroundings as aerial photographs, video or a spatial model, depending on the purpose.

Can you scan a construction site?

Yes, subject to safety rules and agreement with the contractor. Periodic footage is useful for documenting progress and communicating with the client.

Is the footage suitable for presenting new developments?

Yes. Aerial footage of the site, surroundings and construction progress complements the interactive 3D presentation of the project and its sales website.

Can you combine interior and exterior scanning?

Yes. We capture the interior with 3D scanning and the exterior and surroundings with a drone, and prepare a more complete digital presentation of the property.

What does the price depend on?

On the size of the area, the complexity of the building, the type of deliverable (photographs, video, 3D model), conditions at the location and any permits required. After an initial review we prepare a quote with a clear scope.

Are permits required for filming?

It depends on the location and the airspace. Before the work we check restrictions, flight rules and privacy requirements, and arrange the necessary permits. In certain areas or conditions, capture is not possible; we let you know in advance.

See your property from a new perspective.

From a single building to larger plots of land and property complexes, we can prepare the right solution for aerial capture, a digital model and a professional presentation.
